Care Instructions for Genuine Leather and Velour Products

During the production process, INCARNE™ uses only high-quality materials: vintage and classic leather, as well as velour.

Vintage leather products have a unique texture with a patina effect. The folds and wear on their surface gently alter the shade, creating a distinctive character for each item. Classic leather accessories have a subtle sheen and a smooth, even surface. Velour products are elegant, soft, and pleasant to the touch.

It is these high-quality materials that give our products their unique aesthetic and ensure their longevity. However, they do require proper care.

Part 1. Features of Different Types of Leather and Velour Used in Our Products

Vintage Leather

Crazy Horse leather is high-quality natural leather known for its durability and vintage appearance. This type of leather has the unique characteristic of developing a patina in areas with bends and scratches due to the original "crazy horse" finish, which involves hot-melting waxes on the leather's surface. As a result, some colors of Crazy Horse leather may initially transfer onto light clothing.

Classic Leather

Classic leather has a slight glossy shine and a smooth texture that feels pleasant to the touch. Unlike vintage leather, classic leather handles contact with moisture better.
The material is quite elastic and dense.

Velour

A soft and pleasant-to-the-touch material with a short, delicate nap, very similar to suede. Thanks to its velvety surface, velvet looks elegant, luxurious, and always in style. The material has good wear resistance, retains its shape well, and doesn’t lose its color depth over time.

Part 2. Basic Rules and Warnings for Using Vintage Leather, Classic Leather and Velour Products

Here are some essential tips for using INCARNE™ products to maintain their perfect appearance:

1. For the first time, do not wear vintage leather products with light-colored clothes

Vintage leather in bright and dark shades (such as black and blue) may initially transfer color to light clothing. It is advisable to use the product initially with dark clothing or treat it with the "Color Stop" spray from the Coccine brand to prevent color transfer.
What to do to avoid staining light clothes?
We recommend the first time to use the product only with dark clothes or to treat it with Coccine "Color Stop" spray.

2. Do not wipe the vintage leather and velour with wet wipes

Wiping leather and velour products with wet wipes is strictly prohibited, as they often contain alcohol that negatively affects the quality of the material. The same applies to powder, baking soda, or cleaning agents.

3. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and sunlight

  • Prolonged exposure to water can damage leather and velour products, especially vintage leather and velour. The finish of vintage leather is unprotected, which is why it feels so pleasant to the touch and has its unique character. Velour, on the other hand, is highly absorbent and can quickly soak up water.

  • If the product gets wet, gently wipe it with a dry soft cloth and allow it to air dry naturally. Avoid direct sunlight and do not dry products with a hairdryer or on a heater, as this can cause cracking or hardening.

  • Store leather and velour products in a dry and cool place, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Part 3. Care Tips for Genuine Leather and Velour

Any genuine leather and velour products are subject to wear over time. However, with proper and careful care, items made from these materials can last for decades.

We provide you with useful tips on how to properly care for velour and leather products. By following these guidelines, you can maintain the attractive appearance of your items for a long time and significantly extend their lifespan.

    1. Clean your accessories properly

    • Use a dry cloth or cellulose tissue to remove scratches, dirt, and excess moisture from the material.
    • For vintage leather products, use a special cleaning spray if needed. For classic leather products, lightly wipe with a clean, damp cloth for stubborn stains, use specialized cleaners for the specific type of leather.

    2. Let the product breathe

    • Avoid storing leather and velour products in closed plastic bags, as this can lead to oxidation and affect the color of the material. Choose "breathable" materials such as fabric or paper that allow air circulation.
    • To maintain the shape of voluminous items (bags or backpacks), fill them with paper.

    3. Treat genuine leather only with specialized care products.

    • Over time, vintage leather develops a more distinctive "retro" shade. Periodically treat it with cream or wax to enhance this effect and preserve the softness of the leather.

    • For treating the surface of products, choose specialized products designed specifically for the type of leather. Before applying any product, it’s recommended to perform a patch test on a less noticeable area of the leather.

    • When purchasing care products, pay attention to the ingredients. For example, wax should contain a high percentage of natural oils. This is important for better leather treatment and conditioning.

Caution: Excessive use of products intended to preserve leather softness can lead to excessive softening and loss of product shape.
